According to John Corbett's concise guide “A Listener's Guide to Free Improvisation”, saxophonist Evan Parker divides improvisation into three categories: “those that express agreement, those that express disagreement, and those in which the participants agree to disagree”. Agreeing to disagree is exactly what Mahall, Stoffner and Griener celebrate on this album. Even though the musicians occasionally come into conflict with each other, they are consistently characterized by a captivating tension and a surprisingly accessible humour. While there may be nothing here for listeners accustomed to the theme-improv theme to latch onto, the interplay between the musicians takes center stage. It is music that you can immerse yourself in and lose yourself in, that is constantly changing and readjusting and whose progress is made possible by successful transitions.

Laut John Corbetts prägnantem Leitfaden „A Listener's Guide to Free Improvisation“ unterteilt der Saxophonist Evan Parker Improvisation in drei Kategorien: „solche, die Zustimmung ausdrücken, solche, die Uneinigkeit ausdrücken, und solche, bei denen die Teilnehmer sich einig sind, uneinig zu sein“. Sich uneinig einig sein ist genau das, was Mahall, Stoffner und Griener auf diesem Album zelebrieren. Auch wenn die Musiker gelegentlich in Konflikt miteinander geraten, so sind sie doch durchweg von einer fesselnden Spannung und einem überraschend zugänglichen Humor geprägt. Während es hier für den an das Thema-Improvisationsthema gewöhnten Hörer vielleicht nichts zum Festhalten gibt, rückt das Zusammenspiel der Musiker in den Mittelpunkt. Es ist eine Musik, in die man eintauchen und sich darin verlieren kann, die sich ständig verändert und neu justiert und deren Fortschritt durch gelungene Übergänge ermöglicht wird.
