Solos sind Solos. An den Blockflöten pflege ich einen eigenen Zugang zu diesen unüblichen Instrumenten in der experimentellen Musik. Rau und radikal? Womöglich. Einzelne Techniken habe ich direkt während der Aufnahmesession im Studio 304 in Bangalore entdeckt, so im bellenden Track Beedi Power. Andere Stücke sind 'Evergreens' meines Solo-Programms. In The Reincarnation of a Toe spiele ich zwei hohe Flöten in Zirkularatmung mit mäandernden Wendungen.
Mehr ist mehr. Bindhumalini und Mikael Szafirowski sind mehr als nur sporadische WeggefährtInnen in meinem künstlerischen Parcours. Ihre Persönlichkeiten haben mich in unbekannte existenzielle Dimensionen katapultiert. Seit unserer ersten Begegnung 2009 hat Bindhumalini mich mit der Mühelosigkeit, mit der sie aus der Alltagswelt unvermittelt in die Welt der Klänge eintaucht und sich darin entfaltet, beeindruckt und beeinflusst. In Indien ist sie ebenso bekannt für ihre ergreifende Stimme wie für ihre Filmmusik. Das spontan entstandene Duo Carnatic Music Class with a Martian, ein Aufeinandertreffen von südindischem klassischem Gesang mit freier Improvisation, ist in seiner Art einzigartig.
Szafirowski und ich sind durch das Trio ZGB miteinander verbunden, das eine verschworene Recherche zwischen engem Zusammenspiel und der entschiedenen Unberechenbarkeit der einzelnen Akteure betreibt. Eine weitere Facette in diesem Spannungsfeld bilden Mika's Minutes. Szafirowski verfremdet mit seinem Gespür für Abläufe und seinem Humor die aufgenommenen Flötentöne. Das Stück wirkt wie ein Konzentrat von Szafirowskis Abmischung des Albums, das eine breite Palette von Farben und Stimmungen vereint.

Solos are solos. On the recorders I have my own approach to these unusual instruments in experimental music. Rough and radical? Possibly. Some individual techniques were discovered during the recording session in Studio 304 in Bangalore, for example in the barking track Beedi Power. Other pieces are 'evergreens' of my solo program. In The Reincarnation of a Toe I play two high flutes in circular breathing with meandering turns.
More is more. Bindhumalini and Mikael Szafirowski are more than just sporadic companions on my artistic journey. Their personalities have catapulted me into unknown existential dimensions. Since our first encounter in 2009, Bindhumalini has impressed and influenced me with her ability to suddenly plunge out of the everyday world into the world of sounds and to unfold in it. In India she is as famous for her poignant voice as she is for her film music. The spontaneously formed duo Carnatic Music Class with a Martian, a clash of South Indian classical singing with free improvisation, is unique in its kind.
Szafirowski and I are connected by the trio ZGB, which conducts a conspiratorial research between close interplay and the resolute unpredictability of the individual actors. Another facet within these two poles are Mika's Minutes. Szafirowski alienates the recorded flute tones with his sensitivity to sequences and humor. The piece seems like a concentrate of Szafirowski's mix of the album, which unites a wide range of colors and tempers.
