1924 après Jésus-Christ : dans un article intitulé « la musique de demain », Edgar Varese revendique un art neuf et simplifié ; il exhorte à oublier le piano. Quelques décennies plus tard, les dispositifs de lutherie électronique viennent combler ses vœux.
2018 après Jésus-Christ : Michel Wintsch et Beno"t Piccand prennent le relais dans un travail en duo fondé sur un dispositif qui transfigure le piano en temps réel. Pendant que les sirènes des nouvelles technologies nous chantent un réalité augmentée, ils nous offrent l’écoute d’un piano augmenté. Un piano qui révèle, dans ses recoins secrets, un monde de fusion, d’avalanches phoniques, de transes capricieuses, d’hymnes improbables et de rythmes souterrains, d’où s’élèvent quelques notes expurgées, régurgitées et lessivées de toute prétention romantique. Grâce à une alchimie dont les protagonistes se réservent la recette, cet instrument si chargé d’histoire révèle ainsi une texture inédite dans un souci permanent de la forme qui est la marque des artistes intègres.

141 BC: Hipparchus of Nicaea, mathematician and astronomer, laid the foundations of trigonometry.
1924 A.D.: In an article entitled "The Music of Tomorrow", Edgar Varese claims a new and simplified art; he urges us to forget the piano. A few decades later, electronic lutherie devices fulfilled his wishes.
2018 A.D.: Michel Wintsch and Beno"t Piccand take over in a duo work based on a device that transforms the piano in real time. While the sirens of new technologies sing us an augmented reality, they offer us the listening of an augmented piano. A piano that reveals, in its secret corners, a world of fusion, phonic avalanches, capricious trances, improbable hymns and underground rhythms, from which rise some notes redacted, regurgitated and washed away of any romantic pretensions. Thanks to an alchemy whose recipe is reserved for the protagonists, this instrument so steeped in history, reveals an original texture in a permanent concern for the form that is the hallmark of honest artists.
